Add a drawing to your text that illustrates the main theme of your analysis – yes draw a picture that illustrates your written narrative.
C.T.Q.: aka Critical Thinking Question. Every day we will be given a CTQ. This question asks us to analyze and write about our daily activities. It is your opportunity to improve your grade by discussing it in writing, and by reading your written responses out loud to the class - class participation. These questions – and answers – will be an important part of your grade.
9/11/12 Aim / CTQ / Do Now: Why were we given a Contract to sign, and why did your teacher ask you to analyze its importance to our educational goals? Answer today's Aim / CTQ, in writing, and add it to the back of your Contract doc.

2/15/13 Aim: How do we Import JPEGs into SketchUp? Placing JPEGs into SketchUp is fun, relatively easy, and yet challenging because you will have to most likely use the, Tools-Scale tool, to adjust your JPEG once it is placed onto one of your SketchUp surfaces. Steps: Create a 3D box in SketchUp, go to File-Import, and browse for your JPEG. In the Browse window; go to Files of type to find JPEGs. Choose your JPEG. Click Open. Go back to SketchUp and you will see the JPEG somewhere near your Select tool’s pointer. Now you need to drag the JPEG over your Box, and one of its surfaces, and then you will see an End Point from where you can further drag your JPEG over the chosen surface area. The JPEG might not fit the surface exactly so use the Scale tool to adjust the edges of the Box’s surface until it exactly fits the JPEG proportions. Do Now 1: All recently assigned Do Nows and CTQs – and if you look closely you will see that there are a lot of them. Do Now 2 / CTQ: Chart your SketchUp / JPEG practice with a Before and After table that includes an analysis of today’s Aim activities.

Steps: Copy and paste 2 or more images in their respective layers in PS; Default the Foreground and Background Colors; Ctrl + T to resize one of the images, Ctrl+D to Deselect; go to the Layers Palette click on Add Layer Mask in the bottom; In that Layer make sure the Mask thumbnail is selected; Go to the Gradient Tool; Go to the Gradient Picker upper left Menu Bar &; Set Foreground to Transparent; go to image and lightly drag the mouse over the edges of your image; you can also use the Brush Tool to blend your images; Adjust the Brush settings as needed. CTQ 1: Today’s steps are tough but at the same time fun. Explain why this is so. CTQ 2: What Blend Tool is the Author using in the tutorial, and how do you know this? Do Now 2: Today’s lesson Before & After, and, your Google Doodles – 10 excellent ones are required.
4/4/13 Aim: How do we blend pictures in PS? Part II Do Now 1: There are different ways to simultaneously open more than one image in PS. Try This: Drag two different jpgs into PS. On one of the images, if it takes the whole screen, go to the upper rt. corner and click on either Minimize or Restore Down. In the lower left corner you should see two minimized PS files. Go to Restore Up on both of them to see the two windows at the same time. You can then use the Move tool to slide one image onto another. Do Now 2: Do a Blend on today’s Do Now 1 – Before & After. CTQ: Why does your teacher want you to learn today’s lesson?
4/8/13 Aim: Why do we Black & White ‘part’ of a colored photograph in PS? To create emphasis try this easy and fun trick in PS. Do Now 1: Add a multiple flower jpg to PS. Go to: Image - Mode - RGB Color to be sure you are working in color. 3. Make a New Layer if necessary – in the Layers Palette, the Dropdown upper left, set the Blending Mode to Soft Light. 4. Select a Lasso tool or the Magic Wand and draw around, or select, one or more areas / shapes in the photo – marching ants – remember, in the upper Menu bar you can add or subtract from your selection. 5. Click on the Foreground color box in the toolbar and ok/select a logical color to paint over your selection. 6. Click on the Brush tool and select a soft edged brush from the upper menu dropdown options – then paint over the selected area. 7. In the Layers Palette lower the Opacity for better results on the selected area. 8. Repeat steps 3 – 7 until the entire area is colorized. This takes time; you must get the colors to look realistic and artistic. Note: If you want to do a person with realistic skin tones, insert a color image in PS and use the Color Picker to help you choose a natural color to paint with. Do Now 2: Before & After tables in your CTQ doc. If the teacher demonstration glitches; then do your best to follow the written steps. CTQ: Why, in Do Now 2, does it say table(s) and not table? Remember our class is about on-task learning from bell-to-bell, not about racing to the finish. You should be practicing the PS tricks multiple times! Do Now 3: Click on our Blog’s Contract link to refresh your memory about the Rubric requirements and, in your CTQ doc, write about how important the Rubric is and whether or not you are working to the best of your ability.
4/11/13 Aim: How do we utilize the Eye Dropper tool outside our PS window? In our 4/9/13 lesson we were asked to colorize a Black and White photo. Well, it helps if we can choose any color to paint over our selections. Steps: choose the Eyedropper tool, point at your PS image and press down the mouse button; without releasing the mouse button scroll outside your PS window and wherever you point, the Foreground color should change to the color you are pointing at. Use this trick to choose a color outside the PS window to paint over your Black and White image. Do Now: Before and After today’s Aim task – use the Print Screen trick to show you are choosing a color outside of your PS window. Remember to always have an analysis under your Before and After table. CTQ: Why does your teacher want you to sample color outside of the PS window?
4/16/13 Aim: Why do we compare new Android phones? Do Now 1: Table today’s link. Do Now 2: Ready a PS ‘Colorize’ Before & After / CTQ for a grade. Your teacher will fill in the parts of the tutorial that might need more explaining. Do Now 1: Open the two windows simultaneously PS & the tutorial, so you can better follow the steps. Suggested Canvas Size: File - New – 300x700 pixels – Ok. There are some nice keyboard shortcuts like: Ctrl-; Ctrl+E; Alt+Move tool; and Ctrl+T. Ctrl+D to deselect. Hold down the Paint Bucket tool to see the Gradient Tool. The Gradient Slider and Stops are tricky but also doable. Click on the Stops to open your Color palette and switch out their colors. Re-drag your Gradient until you get a nice transition. The Brush tool step might not be necessary. CTQ: Why did your teacher grade the CTQ Before & After table rather than your ‘supposed’ PS file?
